MONTREAL – Quebec provincial police are investigating the death of a 59-year-old man after an alleged armed assault east of Quebec City.

Police say the assault occurred Tuesday in Cap-St-Ignace, Que., in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

They say officers were called to the scene at around 4:30 p.m. after an individual was found dead outside a residence.

Police spokesperson Frédéric Deshaies says the victim was known to police and his death is being investigated a homicide.

Deshaies says the body showed signs of injury and that an autopsy will confirm the cause of death.

There have not yet been any arrests.
