PRINCESS ANNE, Md. (AP) — Dorion Staples had 16 points in Maryland-Eastern Shore’s 69-57 win over Howard on Saturday.
Staples shot 5 for 10 (2 for 5 from 3-point range) and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line for the Hawks (6-13, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference). Jaden Cooper scored 13 points, going 4 of 8 from the floor, including 2 for 5 from 3-point range, and 3 for 3 from the line. Michael Teal shot 3 of 5 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line to finish with 11 points.
Travelle Bryson led the Bison (9-8, 0-2) in scoring, finishing with 18 points, eight rebounds and two steals. Cedric Taylor III added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals for Howard. Bryce Harris finished with 12 points and six rebounds.
