GLEN MORRIS – Police in southwest Ontario say they’ve arrested a driver who they allege left the scene following a fatal collision involving a cyclist.
Provincial police in Glen Morris, a town halfway between Brantford and Kitchener, say officers were called to East River Road on Sunday morning after a motorist reported seeing an unresponsive cyclist and vehicle debris in a ditch.
They say the cyclist, a 68-year-old resident of Cambridge, Ont., sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle involved did not remain at the scene, but police say in an update late Sunday that they located the suspected vehicle and arrested a 65-year-old Brant County man.
He’s charged with failing to stop at an accident resulting in death.
He’ll appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford on Feb. 27.
