WHITBY – Police in Whitby, Ont., say a woman has died after being hit by a car.

Durham Regional Police say they were called to the area of Brock Street North and Mary Street West on Friday afternoon.

They say an 82-year-old woman was trying to cross the street when she was hit by a vehicle.

The woman was taken to a Toronto-area trauma centre with life-threatening injuries and she later died.

Police say the driver remained on scene and co-operated with investigators.

The investigation of the incident is ongoing and police are asking anyone with video footage of the collision to come forward.
