CANAZEI – Canada’s Marielle Thompson won bronze in the women’s ski cross Friday at a World Cup stop in Val di Fassa, the final tune-up before the Olympics.

Italy’s Jole Galli won gold, with France’s Marielle Berger Sabbatel second.

The result adds momentum for Thompson, the 33-year-old from Whistler, B.C., a 2014 Olympic champion coming off knee surgery and heading into her fourth Games as a Canadian flag bearer.
