CHILLIWACK – Mounties in Chilliwack say one person has died and another suffered serious injuries after a shooting in the city.

They say officers were called to a home on Mellard Avenue around 8:40 a.m. 

Police say they quickly found the two people who were suffering from gunshot wounds.

They say one died at the scene while the other person was transported to the hospital.

The RCMP says in a news release that the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is taking over the investigation.

They are asking the public to stay away from the scene as the situation unfolds.
