CALGARY – Cedric Mbiaba had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead the Carleton Ravens to a 58-52 victory over the Toronto Metropolitan Bold on Saturday in the U Sports men’s basketball semifinals in Calgary.

The Ravens advance to Sunday’s championship final and will play the Bishop’s Gaiters, who edged the Victoria Vikes 66-65 in Saturday’s other semifinal.

Mark Dike had nine points and four rebounds for the Ravens, who were tied 26-26 at halftime and led 42-37 heading into the final quarter.

Aaron Rhooms had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Bold, while Maxime Louis-Jean added nine points.

Charles Robert had 17 points and seven rebounds for the Gaiters, who were outscored 15-7 in the final quarter but hung on for the win. Zach John added 14 points.

Geoffrey James led the Vikes with 16 points, while Renoldo Robinson had 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Vikes will play the Bold in Sunday’s bronze-medal game.

BASELINES: The Laval Rouge et Or beat the UBC Thunderbirds 83-75 in Saturday’s first consolation game. Chris Tshibola had a game-high 25 points for Laval. In the second consolation game, the Acadia Axemen beat the Calgary Dinos 88-77. Robbie Grant led the Axemen with 23 points and seven rebounds. Laval and Acadia will play in Sunday’s fifth-place game.
