FORT ST. JOHN – Police in Fort St. John, B.C., say one person is dead after an “altercation” involving several people at a boat launch last night.

Fort St. John RCMP say they were called to the Charlie Lake boat ramp on Friday evening.

They say officers learned of an “altercation” involving several people, and one person was left with serious injuries.

Police say the injured person was taken to hospital by friends, but the person died of their injuries.

Mounties say the North District Major Crime Unit is now investigating what they believe is an “isolated incident.”

They say the boat ramp will be closed as investigators comb the scene, and police are asking potential witnesses to contact Fort St. John RCMP.
