WILLIAMS LAKE – Police in Williams Lake, B.C., say a man is dead after stopping to help a truck driver who had become trapped following a crash on Highway 20 on Wednesday evening.
Williams Lake RCMP say a 49-year-old man had stopped at the scene of a crash between two semi-trucks on the highway.
Mounties say the man was trying to help get one of the drivers out of the commercial vehicle after becoming trapped, and the second semi-truck “became dislodged” and hit the man.
Police say he died of his injuries.
RCMP say the highway was closed for several hours after the crash, and the investigation continues.
Police say any witnesses or people with dash-camera footage from the area around the time of the crash should contact Williams Lake RCMP.
