CHEMAINUS – A Vancouver Island student has been apprehended and taken to hospital after allegedly making threats against a local secondary school.

RCMP say in a statement that they were contacted by Chemainus Secondary School on Tuesday after staff reported the alleged threats and felt concerned about the safety and well-being of everyone involved in the case.

Officers were then dispatched to the school where the student involved was apprehended and taken to hospital, although police say the student was not injured during the investigation.

Police have not released the nature of the threats or other details surrounding the case.

Investigators are asking for anyone with information on the case to contact police.

The Mounties say they are liaising with the local school district to make sure appropriate supports are available to those who were affected by the alleged threats.
