OTTAWA – Ottawa police say a child has died after falling from an apartment window in the city’s Sandy Hill neighbourhood.
Police say the fall took place in the area of Laurier Avenue East and Cumberland Street around 6:45 p.m. Monday.
Paramedics say a boy was found beside a building, with “critical injuries consistent with a fall from height,” and was taken to hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
Police say the child, who was under the age of eight, died in hospital.
They did not immediately provide further details.
The force is offering condolences to the child’s family and loved ones as they grieve the “unimaginable” loss.
