VANCOUVER – Police in Surrey say the RCMP has taken over the investigation into a shooting that has left a male dead in that community.
Surrey Police Service says in a statement that it responded to reports of a shooting in the area of 138 Street and 62 Avenue around 12:22 a.m. on Sunday.
It says that when officers arrived, they found a male suffering from gunshot wounds in a vehicle, which had hit a power pole.
Police say that despite medical assistance from officers and paramedics, he was pronounced deceased on scene.
Surrey Police Service says no arrests have been made so far, but the Mounties’ Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is now leading the investigation.
It says there is no suspect information to share at this stage, but anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact IHIT.
