MONTREAL – Quebec’s police watchdog is investigating a collision that left two people critically injured after a police chase northwest of Montreal.
The watchdog — Bureau des enquêtes indépendantes — says a vehicle being chased by police struck a utility pole in Mirabel, Que.
Police in Thérèse-De Blainville, Que., said in a statement that the pursuit began in the territory they serve and ended in Mirabel at about 4 a.m.
Watchdog spokesperson Jérémie Comtois says Quebec provincial police are assisting with the investigation.
The case is the watchdog’s second investigation in two days.
The agency is also looking into the deaths of two people early Wednesday morning after their vehicle entered the Delisle River, southwest of Montreal, after a police intervention.
