REGINA – A man convicted of murdering a teen at a Saskatchewan bush party two decades ago will be sentenced as a youth.
The decision was made by a judge in Court of King’s Bench in Regina.
The accused, who can’t be publicly identified, was 17 when Misha Pavelick was killed at the party in Regina Beach in May 2006.
The Crown had urged the 37-year-old be sentenced as an adult, which carries a more severe term of life in prison with no parole eligibility for 10 years.
A jury convicted the man of second-degree murder in November.
Many witnesses told his trial last year that their memories of that fateful night of partying and drinking were clouded by the passage of time.
