QUÉBEC – A child who was found unconscious in a residential swimming pool on Thursday in Quebec City has died.

Police confirmed the child’s death this morning, adding that their investigation is ongoing.

They did not release the child’s age.

Police say they received a 911 call around 8:25 p.m. Thursday about a child found unresponsive in a residential swimming pool in the city’s Charlesbourg borough.

They say officers at the scene tried to resuscitate the child, who was then rushed to hospital under police escort.

Investigators have released few details about the sequence of events that led to the child’s death.
