Police in Peel Region say two people have been charged with murder and two others are facing gun charges in the fatal shooting of a man more than three years ago.

Police say they were called to reports of gunfire near Dream Crest Road and Alicante Street in Mississauga, Ont., the night of March 20, 2023.

They say officers found Bryan Lara-Alvarez, 29, with gunshot wounds and he died at the scene.

Police say an SUV was seen driving away from the scene shortly after the shooting, and officers later seized a firearm.

They say two men, both aged 22, have been charged with first-degree murder.

They say two other suspects are facing multiple firearm charges, including possessing a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm.
