TORONTO – Toronto Tempo guard Marina Mabrey has been named the WNBA’s Eastern Conference player of the week.
Mabrey tied the WNBA single-game scoring record with 53 points Thursday in a victory over the Los Angeles Sparks.
She also matched the league record with nine three-pointers in that game.
The Tempo’s 125 points set a new WNBA record for most points scored in a regulation game.
Across two Tempo games, including an 89-80 loss to visiting Phoenix on Saturday, Mabrey averaged 38 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
This is Mabrey’s second player of the week award this season, having previously won it for games from May 25 to May 31.
