Hamilton police say they have arrested a suspect in relation to several stabbings that occurred in the city’s downtown Tuesday. 

Police say they began responding to reports of stabbings shortly after 2:10 p.m. 

They say the incidents happened in the areas of King Street East and James Street South and the MacNab Street Transit Terminal.

Police allege the suspect stabbed four individuals who were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

They say the suspect who was arrested without incident was charged with four counts of assault with a weapon. 

The investigation remains ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to come forward.
