FORT SMITH – RCMP in Fort Smith, N.W.T,  have lifted a shelter-in-place order about 15 hours after responding to a call for three people injured in a shooting.

Mounties say the call came at around 2 a.m. Saturday and they responded to an area outside a business in the town’s west end.

An armed man fled the scene and police issued a shelter-in-place order soon after.

Locals were asked to stay inside and not open the door for anyone.

Police now say the incident was a targeted attack and the risk to the public is over. 

They said in a previous update that the victims were receiving medical attention.
