SYDNEY – Police in Cape Breton are investigating a home invasion and shooting that left one man wounded and prompted an emergency alert.
Cape Breton Regional Police confirmed yesterday they began searching for three suspects after a wounded man arrived at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney at 7:30 a.m.
Police say the 30-year-old victim is expected to recover from his injuries.
Investigators say the shooting happened after three masked men forced their way into a home on Alexandra Street earlier in the morning.
Police say the suspects fled in a Toyota Camry, which was later recovered in the community of Marion Bridge.
By late Saturday afternoon, police announced there was no further risk to public safety, though their search for the suspects was ongoing.
Police say they believe the shooting was not a random act because those involved all know each other.
