FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Kenveon Stone ran for two touchdowns and Quran Gossett ran for 105 yards and Northern Arizona took control before halftime and beat Incarnate Word 38-28 on Saturday.

Jayden Hibbler’s 4-yard scoring run with 1:54 left in the first quarter gave the Cardinals their only lead of the game at 7-3. Just before the end of the quarter, Jahaad Fort intercepted Emmett Brown and returned the pick to the Cardinals’ 9. Two plays later, Stone ran it in from the 4 for a 10-7 NAU (2-1) lead.

Stone scored from 28 yards out with 10:16 before intermission, and Ty Pennington threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Myseth Currie with 19 seconds before halftime for a 24-7 advantage.

Incarnate Word never got within 10 points the rest of the way.

Gossett gained his 105 yards on just 17 carries and scored on a 30-yard touchdown run and made it 31-14.

Incarnate Word’s Brown threw for 426 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted twice.
