CHILLIWACK – Police in British Columbia’s Fraser Valley say an 80-year-old cyclist has died after a hit-and-run crash, while a suspect driver has since been arrested and released pending further investigation.
Chilliwack RCMP say the female cyclist was struck at the intersection of Portage Avenue and Woodbine Street at about 6 p.m. Saturday and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say a suspect vehicle has since been identified and seized.
They say an adult male driver was arrested but later released as the investigation continues.
Alcohol or drugs are not believed to have been factors in the crash.
The Mounties are asking anyone who has video footage of a burgundy or red 2021 Chevrolet Silverado crew cab pickup truck at the time of the crash to contact them.
