BAKU – Canadians Taylor Ruck and Finlay Knox added to the country’s medal haul Friday at the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup.
Ruck, a four-time Olympic medallist from Kelowna, B.C., won silver in the women’s 100-metre backstroke, finishing in 56.49 seconds behind the Netherlands’ Marrit Steenbergen (55.17).
Knox, of Okotoks, Alta., took bronze in the men’s 200 individual medley in one minute 52.57 seconds. American Luke Barr won in 1:51.34.
Ruck also won bronze in the 50 freestyle Thursday, while Saskatoon’s Blake Tierney earned silver in the men’s 200 backstroke.
Russia’s Egor Kornev equalled the world record in the men’s 100 freestyle Friday, winning in 44.84 seconds to match Australian Kyle Chalmers’ mark set in 2021.
Kornev also won the 50 backstroke in a World Cup-record 22.23 seconds.
