TORONTO – Arabian Crown won Saturday’s 86th running of the $750,000 Canadian International at Woodbine.

The five-year-old powered home to record a 3 3/4-length win in a time of two minutes 30.67 seconds.

Tawny Port, second by a nose in last year’s running, closed to finish second. Purview was third and Ancient Egypt was fourth.

Tomasello was quick to take the lead, reaching the opening panel in 24.44 seconds and making it through the halfway mark of 1 1/2-mile race in 50.97 seconds.

Arabian Crown was patiently handled by Jamie Spencer, who kept close tabs on the pacesetter through three-quarters in 1:17.10.

Spencer gave the son of Dubawi his cue shortly afterward, and the gelding responded with an explosive turn of foot, seizing the lead and striding away with confidence from his six rivals heading into the turn for home.
