OXFORD, N.S. – RCMP say they believe a suspicious electrocution that resulted in the death of a 51-year-old man in northern Nova Scotia happened during a copper wire theft.
Police say the man sustained injuries from an electrocution on July 29, and officers responded to a report of an injured man at a commercial property in the 3,000-block of Highway 321 in Oxford, N.S., four days later.
A police spokesperson said Saturday they were alerted to the injured man on Aug. 2 by a representative of the commercial property.
Allison Gerrard says officers are working to determine what occurred between July 29, when the electrocution is believed to have happened, and Aug. 2.
RCMP is seeking dashcam or surveillance footage from the area between those dates to identify people or vehicles that were present at the time.
Investigators say they are aware that other people were there when the man was electrocuted, and they want to speak with those who were present.
The 51-year-old man died in hospital on Oct. 5 as a result of his injuries from the electrocution.
