Hey there, time traveller!

The Winnipeg Jets have placed right-winger Patrik Laine on injured reserve retroactive to Jan. 7.
Laine is recuperating from a concussion suffered as a result of an neutral-zone hit from Buffalo Sabres defenceman Jake McCabe on Jan. 7. He has not resumed on-ice workouts.
Laine, 18, is one of the top candidates for the NHL’s Calder Trophy as top rookie. He is tied with Auston Matthews for the league league among rookie scorers with 21 goals.

The Jets have also bolstered their blue-line corps with the recall of Julian Melchiori from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose.
Melchiori could be available as a replacement for Ben Chiarot, who missed Thursday’s practice due to illness and may not be healthy enough to play in Glendale Ariz., tonight when the Jets take on the Coyotes (8 p.m., TSN3, TSN 1290).
Melchiori, a 25-year-old from Richmond, Ont., has gone pointless and is a minus-3 in four games with the Jets this season. In 31 games with the Moose, he has two goals, six points and 16 penalty minutes. He was a third-round pick (87th overall) of the the Atlanta Thrashes in the 2010 NHL Draft.
In 11 games with the Jets in 2015-16, Melchiori did not register a point but was a plus-1.
