OHL Playoffs: Morneau, Protas help Spitfires top Greyhounds; Windsor leads series 3-1

Windsor now leads the best-of-seven first-round series 3-1.
Protas had the eventual winner in the second period as the Spitfires rattled off four unanswered goals. Protas also scored into an empty net with 21 seconds left to play.
Joey Costanzo made 23 saves for the win.
Shiann Darkangelo’s hat trick leads the Charge past the Fleet in last PWHL game before 3-week break
2 minute read Wednesday, Apr. 2, 2025LOWELL, Mass. (AP) — Shiann Darkangelo secured her first PWHL hat trick against her former team and the Ottawa Charge beat the Boston Fleet 4-0 on Wednesday night in the league's last game before a three-week break for the IIHF Women’s World Championship.
Ottawa (11-1-4-11) moved past Minnesota for fourth in the standings after securing three points for the second straight game against Boston.
Darkangelo scored a power-play goal 45 seconds into the game when she was left alone in front of the goal to redirect Anna Meixner’s pass between the pads of Aerin Frankel.
Darkangelo added another midway through the second for a 2-0 lead. Ronja Savolainen set up the goal by dropping the puck off to Darkangelo and driving forward to create a gap for the shot.
OHL playoffs: Vanacker leads Bulldogs to 4-3 overtime win over Battalion
4 minute read Wednesday, Apr. 2, 2025NORTH BAY, Ont. - Marek Vanacker's second goal of the game, scored at 5:29 of overtime, lifted the visiting Brantford Bulldogs to a 4-3 victory over the North Bay Battalion in Ontario Hockey League playoff action on Tuesday at Boart Longyear Memorial Gardens.
Luca Testa and Noah Nelson also scored for the Bulldogs, who grabbed a commanding 3-0 lead in the first-round, best-of-seven series. Patrick Thomas chipped in with two assists.
Ethan Procyszyn, Lirim Amidovski and Jacob Therrien scored for the Battalion, who were outshot 38-34.
The Battalion went 1-for-5 on the power play, while the Bulldogs were 0-for-3.
QMJHL playoffs: Gaudet scores in OT as Sagueneens edge Titan 4-3

Jonathan Prud'homme, Felix Gagnon and Alex Huang scored in regulation time for the Sagueneens, who grabbed a commanding 3-0 lead in the first-round, best-of-seven series. Maxim Masse chipped in with two assists for the visitors, who went 2-for-6 on the power play.
Dawson Sharkey, Francois-James Buteau and Maddex Marmulak scored for the Titan, who outshot the visitors 42-33.
The Titan, who went 0-for-3 on the power play, will try to prevent a sweep when they host Game 4 on Wednesday.
Last-place Sirens upset league-leading Victoire 1-0
2 minute read Tuesday, Apr. 1, 2025LAVAL, Quebec (AP) — The New York Sirens put a boost into their faint playoff hopes with a 1-0 win over the first-place Montreal Victoire on Tuesday night.
Jade Downie-Landry opened the scoring with 11.7 seconds left in the first period with a shot off the post and in after Gabby Rosenthal won a faceoff. The goal came three seconds after a five-minute power play was killed by Montreal.
Corinne Schroeder made 16 saves, and was not tested much by the Victoire. It was her third shutout of the season, and the fewest shots she faced in a full game this season. Elaine Chuli made 30 saves in her third start since the injury to Victoire starting goaltender Ann-Renee Desbiens.
New York had the game’s first power play, after Kati Tabin was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for a check to the head of Sirens forward Jessie Eldridge. New York went 0 for 3 with the advantage.
OHL playoffs: Colts hang on to beat IceDogs 7-5, lead series 2-0
2 minute read Monday, Mar. 31, 2025BARRIE, Ont. - Matthew Virgilio scored 24 seconds into Monday's game at Sadlon Arena to give the visiting Niagara IceDogs an early lead.
That quick start appeared to be the only bright spot for the IceDogs over the next 40 minutes, who fell behind 5-1 and eventually dropped a 7-5 decision to the host Barrie Colts.
The IceDogs trail the first round Ontario Hockey League best-of-seven playoff series 2-0.
Anthony Romani scored three goals for the Colts, who won the series opener 4-2 last Thursday.
