You wanted him, you got him, Bomber fans. Let’s give it to QB Steven Jyles, who came in and provided a late push for the Winnipeg offence. He put together an eight-play, 99-yard touchdown drive at the end of the game to make it interesting and give Winnipeg a chance to send the game into overtime.

DEFENCE

Play of the game from our vantage point: The sack by Bombers DE Phillip Hunt in the fourth quarter. It took the Lions out of field goal range and gave the Bombers a lifeline.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Could go to Lions KR Yonus Davis; could hand it over to Winnipeg’s Jovon Johnson. Instead, it goes to Bombers rookie kicker Justin Palardy, who nailed a 42-yard field goal with no time remaining to send it to overtime.

Take away the 45-yard pass-and-run to Brock Ralph in the first quarter and those are the yard passing and completions numbers from QB Alex Brink in the first half. The rookie finished 4-of-18 passing for 61 yards.

The number of turnovers by the Lions. Coming into the game, Winnipeg had a CFL-low 23 takeaways. The Bombers turned it over just one time, when punter Mike Renaud had his rugby-style punt blocked.

The net yards for the Bombers in the first half. Included in that lack of offence is seven first downs. No worries. The Lions were no better in the opening 30 minutes, compiling just 160 yards offence.
