WINNIPEG – The hunt continues for a missing Winnipeg woman, a year after she was last seen.
Mildred Flett, 52, last had contact with friends and family in June of 2010.
On Tuesday an independent search party will be meeting up at the Indian and Metis Friendship Centre and looking across the city for her.
The search party, which was publicized by Roseau River Chief Terry Nelson and is not affiliated with police, is offering a $5,000 reward for Flett’s location.
Police say they are also continuing their investigation into Flett’s disappearance. Police have previously said there is “no indication” of foul play in Flett’s disappearance.
Last summer, police were also searching for Flett’s 46-year-old former boyfriend. He was arrested on an unrelated warrant last August. Police said at the time they would question him about Flett’s disappearance.
“We have spoken to that individual, and I have nothing more to provide you regarding that aspect,” police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said Monday.
He said police wanted to speak to friends and contacts of Flett’s for information.
Flett, also known as Mildred Nelson, is described as an aboriginal woman about 5’10” tall and weighing around 140 pounds. She has medium, wavy black hair with brown eyes. Police believe she may have cut her hair short.
Flett’s sister, Lynda Neckoway, has described Flett as an artsy person who did a lot of beadwork and enjoyed being a mom to her five kids.
