FOR her third Canadian Tour event in a row, Izzy Beisiegel is down the road on Friday.
But not without a smile and a solid learning experience, the first female member of a men’s professional tour said Friday.
“I learned a lot about this golf course,” the Quebecer said after posting rounds of 81-73 at Pine Ridge. “The Donald Ross greens, I don’t play them that often. The shots in, with the wind in your face, those wedges are challenging because you have to control the spin. I played some lower shots today and it helped.”

Mike Mezei, the 2007 champ here, joined the weekend conversation with a round of 68 Friday to get to four-under and a tie for 10th spot.
“I was steady on Thursday, but I had a few more chances today,” Mezei said.

The results for locals at the Canadian Tour event were common. Only two of 16 made it to weekend play as the cut fell at 144, plus-two.
Sixty-nine players made it, including Winnipeggers Brad Kirton (72 for two-under) and Rob McMillan (70 for one-under). McMillan birdied his final hole, the par-3 ninth.
Those missing the weekend were Matt Johnston (five-over), Tyler Mancini (six), Ryan Horn (six), amateur Aaron Cockerill (six), Adam Speirs (eight), amateur Jesse Skelton (eight), Dean North (eight), amateur Josh Wytinck (nine), amateur Peter More (nine), Scott Loewen (13), Shane Dick (15) and amateur Ryan Bonni (15).
North bounced back with a 69 on Friday, and Cockerill, Johnston and Horn were sharp with 71s.

The Coors Light Million Dollar Shootout takes place today and Sunday during weekend play at the Players Cup.
The first 500 purchasers of a beverage on No. 16 today and Sunday will receive a wristband, and if a player aces the hole during competition, those wristband holders will each win a $100 gift certificate for the Pine Ridge pro shop.
What are the odds?
Golf Digest said some years ago that a PGA Tour pro’s odds of a hole-in-one are one in 3,756. The good news today is that you can expect a very friendly pin placement on No. 16, likely in the green’s valley somewhere.
Also today, as the last five twosomes pass through the 16th, wristbands will be drawn and those five people will go back to the tee at the completion of play and each will have a chance to make a hole in one and win a $1-million prize.
