FLAMES tore through a home in the 700 block of Aberdeen Ave., gutting the house early Monday morning. Then the fire spread. A larger home next door was extensively damaged before crews could get the flames under control.
An occupant who suffered burns was living in the first house. No one was injured in the house where the fire spread, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service reported.
Damage to the first house where the fire started was estimated at $80,000. Damage to the house next door was $250,000.
At this point, it appears careless cooking was the cause of the blaze, police said.
