- About the Jets: Coming off a disappointing two-game jaunt into Ontario where they lost 4-3 in a shootout to Toronto and 4-1 to the Senators in the capital… This is the first of six meetings between the Jets and Carolina… The power play is now just two of 25 on the season (ranked 25th heading into last night’s action); the penalty kill is ranked 27th… Alex Burmistrov has four points in his last three games and leads the club in scoring with a goal and four helpers.
- About the Hurricanes: The Canes arrived in Winnipeg after losing 3-2 in overtime in St. Louis Friday night… Carolina lost its first three in the first four days of the season, but has now won three of its last four games… Today’s game marks the first meeting for former Thrasher Anthony Stewart and his old Thrashers’ teammates. Stewart also played against his brother Chris, a forward with the Blues, for the first time in St. Louis… In the three wins prior to the game in St. Louis, Carolina goaltender Cam Ward had stopped 98 of the 104 shots he had faced.
