UNIONDALE, NY – The Winnipeg Jets are heading north from Florida to New York without their best defenceman.

Tobias Enstrom, who left Monday’s win over the Florida Panthers after taking a hit from Jack Skille, has returned to Winnipeg. The rest of the Jets practiced in Florida and are now en route to New York for Thursday’s game against the Islanders and dates with the New Jersey Devils and New York Rangers on the weekend.

The Jets are not being specific about what is ailing Enstrom, other than to call it an ‘upper body’ injury.

The 26 year-old Swede has one goal and five assists in 11 games, tops among Jets defencemen. The team has yet to make a decision on whether another rearguard would be summoned from the St. John’s IceCaps as a replacement.
