ABOUT THE JETS

Team is home for one game after finishing a season-long 7-game road trip at 3-2-2… Jets are 5-7-3 and still under .500 and they struggle to stay relevant in the standings… Winnipeg has now played just four home games and 11 road games, most in the NHL… Due to injuries, Jets have now used 11 defencemen this season… G Ondrej Pavelec has seen his game on an upward trend despite some wild games on the road; he is 4-5-3 so far… Is it officiating or is it their play? Jets have been short-handed (72 times) more than any other NHL team this season… The Jets placed centre Ben Maxwell on waivers on Wednesday. The 23-year-old Vancouver product appeared in four games and did not register a point
ABOUT THE PANTHERS
The Panthers come to Winnipeg off a 5-1 win in Toronto on Tuesday, stopping a string of three straight S/O losses… One of those S/O losses was to the Jets in Sunrise, Fla… Now 7-4-3, Florida’s smart start has been powered by the recent productive play of LW Tomas Fleischmann, whose seven-game point streak (4-5-9) stopped in Toronto… The Panthers are a top-5 power-play team at 22.6 per cent, but a bottom-7 penalty-kill team at 76.3 per cent.
