About the Jets
Have dropped five of six in 2012, including Saturday’s 2-1 loss to New Jersey… Just 4-6 in their last 10 and their 6-11-4 road record is one of the NHL’s worst… The Jets continue to struggle offensively in third periods, having been out-scored 50-27 (a minus-23 differential). Only Columbus has uglier numbers (minus-29) in the final 20 minutes… With RW Blake Wheeler (throat) doubtful, the Jets will need others to step up: hello, Evander Kane, who is goal-less now in his last eight… Recent call-up Paul Postma will be with the team on the road, Dustin Byfuglien (knee) will not.
About the Senators
The Sens are on a run right now, having gone 8-1-1 in their past 10, including four straight wins — the fourth a 3-2 shootout win over the Canadiens Saturday night. Ottawa is fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 25-15-6 mark.. Craig Anderson continues to be a rock in the Ottawa goal; he is 22-12-14… The Sens have won both contests against Winnipeg this season; 4-1 in Ottawa on Oct. 20 and 6-4 at MTS Centre on Nov. 29… Jason Spezza is enjoying a renaissance season of sorts as he leads the club in scoring (18G, 28A), numbers that put him in the NHL’s Top 10. He had 57 points in each of the last two seasons.
