About the Jets
Won two of three games last week but ended it on a sour note, dropping an 8-5 score in Pittsburgh on Saturday… Jets come into tonight’s contest with 58 points. They trail eighth-place Toronto by four and Southeast-leading Florida by seven… Saturday’s game yielded a goal from C Alexander Burmistrov, his first in seven outings… The Jets have scored in four straight periods, something they have done only twice in 2012… Winnipeg’s five goals Saturday was the highest output since a 5-2 win over Anaheim on Dec. 17… The Jets have given up back-to-back games with two power-play goals against, a first this season… Tonight starts a stretch of nine of the next 10 at home for the Jets.
About the Islanders
Have split a pair of games with the Jets this season, each team winning in the other’s building. The Jets, however, have an extra point from it because of a shootout loss to New York… The Islanders are an even 11-11-3 on the road this season… After Sunday’s 4-1 loss at home to Florida, the Islanders are 7-3-2 in their last 12… They have six overtime games in their last 10 and are 7-8 when games go to extra time this season… Only four points behind Winnipeg, the Islanders have 11 home games and 16 road games left on their schedule… D Travis Hamonic (face) and Dylan Reese (knee) have both been out with injuries.
