THE Manitoba Museum will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic with a special program this weekend.

A 45-minute presentation telling the story of the Manitobans who were on board the doomed ocean liner will take place at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Grasslands Theatre.

The travellers were on their way to Manitoba when the ship hit an iceberg and sank on April 15, 1912, claiming 1,517 lives.

The program will also include a few artefacts from the museum’s Titanic: The Manitoba Connection exhibit, a power-point presentation and clips from James Cameron’s Titanic that tell the true-life story of one immigrant family who were on their way to Manitoba when tragedy struck.

Admission is free with museum gallery admission.
