AS the Miles Macdonell Buckeyes girls’ volleyball team prepared for the provincial semifinal, Cassie Bujan earned some provincial attention.
Bujan, a 5-6 left-side hitter and one of the top defenders in Manitoba, was named the Home Run Sports urban high school athlete of the week on Tuesday, in recognition of her efforts to help lead the Buckeyes to a third-seed season finish and the AAAA volleyball final four. Bujan, a senior, was named tournament all-star at the St. Mary’s Academy and St. Vital tournaments, and was the leading passer on the team.
Glenboro’s Klassen MVP
OUTSIDE the Perimeter Highway, Glenboro Panthers junior varsity volleyball star Matthew Klassen was named the Tri-Star rural high school athlete of the week, after he helped carry the Panthers to their first provincial championship. Klassen was named MVP of the provincial tournament, and a zone 6 all-star. A Grade 10 student, Klassen also plays for the Panthers’ basketball squad.
