ABOUT THE FLYERS
- First up, the game time noted above is correct. Sunday eventing television regulations are playing a factor here and because the Flyers were in Toronto Saturday night, an afternoon game was not an option for the visitors.
- Philly brings an 12-14-6 record into tonight’s game against the Jets. On Saturday, Philly began a string of eight straight road games over the next 16 days with a 7-4 win over Toronto. The Flyers were coming off Thursday’s 2-1 shootout loss at home to Florida and are starting to look a bit like last season’s Devils – snakebitten in shootouts, now 0-5 in those this season.
- The Flyers do have a 3-1-2 mark against Central Division teams this season. They come to the weekend with the NHL’s fifthbest power play (24 per cent) and second-worst penalty-killing (75.5 per cent). The team’s string of eight straight games with a power-play goal came to a halt Thursday vs. Florida.
- One of the Flyers’ big issues this season is third periods.
- They’ve been outscored 33-24 by opponents in third periods this season.
- RW Jakub Voracek is having an impressive season, leading the Flyers in scoring with 12 goals and 42 points in 32 games.
- Voracek had four assists against the Maple Leafs Saturday.
