Jasper Simmons is officially a member of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers after the club announced his addition to the practice roster on Thursday, confirming a report first made Wednesday by Free Press columnist Gary Lawless.
Simmons, a fourth-year CFL veteran, started the season in Calgary but was released on Tuesday following a Twitter tirade from his agent, Sammy Gahagan.
Gahagan tore into the Stamps, suggesting the 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker was being “held hostage” by the club.
The Missouri alum has played in four games this season, registering four tackles. Last year, as a member of the Ottawa RedBlacks, Simmons recorded 80 tackles, three interceptions and one forced fumble while chipping in seven special teams tackles.
The club said Simmons will be available for comment following the bye week,
