SWITCHING SIDES: Sunday’s line combos — they could change today — featured Nikolaj Ehlers being flipped from right wing to the left side with Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler. Ehlers played both sides in junior and Maurice likes the versatility that could give him when he fires up the line blender.

“He’s comfortable on both, we just haven’t seen enough work with him on the left side to move him there,” said Jets coach Paul Maurice. “I would like him to play on the left side at times. I really like him on the right, but a player like that, if I can get him on both sides it just opens up a lot of doors for changing later in games and getting him with different people.”

Worth noting: Wheeler was also playing some centre in Saturday’s loss after the departure of Mathieu Perreault due to injury.

FYI: Much of Sunday’s practice focused on the Jets attempting to crank up their speed. Or, as Maurice put it, “We think we can just get faster in everything we do.”… The Jets are expecting to have D-man Paul Postma back from his two-week conditioning assignment with the Manitoba Moose today… The club’s tinkering with the power-play setup Saturday yielded instant results with Dustin Byfuglien, now camping out in front of the opposition net, banging home a rebound 10 seconds into the Jets’ only power play. Asked if he might consider switching up the personnel on his struggling penalty-kill unit, Maurice was blunt, pointing out they’d already made some changes against the Devils and New Jersey still scored with the man advantage. “We had different people out there (Mark Stuart, Jacob Trouba, Bryan Little and Joel Armia) when the puck went in.”
