The Winnipeg Jets confirmed Saturday that forward Marko Dano will be lost for up to eight weeks with a lower-body injury.

The 22-year-old Slovak fell awkwardly into the boards during Thursday’s 5-3 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets at the MTS Centre. He was placed on injured reserve.

In 21 games this season, Dano had four goals and eight points. He has played 69 career games in the NHL with 13 goals and 31 points.

Following the injury to Dano, the Jets recalled forward Andrew Copp from the the AHL’s Manitoba Moose. Copp could be in the lineup tonight when Jets host the New York Islanders. Game time is 6 p.m.

The Jets are expected to start Connor Hellebuyck in goal against the Islanders.
