About the BLACKHAWKS

Chicago (31-36-10) is nearing the end of one of their worst seasons in recent years. The Blackhawks are in last place in the Central Division, 14 points behind the next closest team in the Dallas Stars. They have been particularly bad recently, with a 2-6-2 record in the last 10 games.

The Blackhawks are coming off a 4-3 shootout loss at home to the San Jose Sharks Monday night. Chicago rebounded from an early 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 lead after the first period. The Sharks countered by scoring the next two goals but a shot from Patrik Sharp tied the game with fewer than three minutes to go. Sharp added another in the shootout but it wasn’t enough, as the Sharks scored twice, including one in the eighth round to seal the win.

As tough a season as it has been for the Blackhawks, the 2015 Stanley Cup champions still have a number of weapons on offence. Patrick Kane leads the way with 72 points, while Winnipeg native Jonathan Toews is second with 52. Alex DeBrincat is tied with Kane for the team lead in goals with 26.
