LANGLEY, B.C. – Nova Scotia scored singles in the ninth and 10th ends to beat Saskatchewan 9-7 on Thursday in late-draw action at the Canadian junior curling championship.
Nova Scotia improved to 5-4 while Saskatchewan (7-2) suffered just its second loss of the tournament, spoiling a chance to tie Manitoba 2 (8-1) atop the leaderboard.
Saskatchewan had tied the game by scoring three in the eighth end before Nova Scotia went back out in front.
In other men’s action, Alberta downed P.E.I. 10-2, Manitoba 1 toppled B.C. 1 by a score of 11-6 and B.C. 2 edged New Brunswick 8-7.
Alberta, P.E.I., Manitoba 1 and Nova Scotia were tied with 5-4 records. B.C. 1 was in last place at 4-5.
On the women’s side, Nova Scotia stayed in second place (7-2) with an 8-5 win over Newfoundland and Labrador (4-5).
Also, B.C. toppled Nunavut 7-2, Alberta downed Quebec 7-3, and Saskatchewan edged New Brunswick 8-6.
