Hey there, time traveller!
This article was published 11/05/2021 (1930 days ago), so information in it may no longer be current.
Name: Nelly Furtato and Twig
Sex: Female
Approximate age: 2½ years
Breed: Smooth-haired guinea pigs
Size: Small
Time in care: Approximately six months since being returned
These sweet girls were adopted last year, and recently returned to Popcorns and Binkies Rescue Haven through absolutely no fault of their own. They came back to rescue absolutely petrified, so have spent some time settling in with their foster family. They are now ready to find their forever home.
They are approximately 21/2 years old, and bonded almost instantly when in rescue. Guinea pigs do not do well alone, so it’s always best for them to have a friend.
These girls are extremely shy at first, and will require a home with absolutely no children under the age of 12. Preference will also be given to an experienced guinea pig owner who understands how to gain the trust of shy/scared guinea pigs.
Like most piggies, once they learn the sound of the fridge door opening, they will wheek at you for veggies. They adore bell peppers, and have lots of fun munching on various greens and herbs.
They enjoy playing hide-and-seek in their wooden hutches, and are big fans of fleece for lining their cage/enclosure. Lots of toys and things to explore are also a favourite pastime of these ladies.
Nelly Furtato and Twig really just want a forever home to call their own.
Those interested in meeting or adopting these two piggies can fill out an application form at popcornsandbinkies.org. Adoption fees are $25 and include a health check upon entering rescue, spay/neuter, educational information booklet, a list of guinea pig-savvy vets in and around Winnipeg, ongoing access to the Popcorns and Binkies team for questions and one week’s worth of high-quality kibble.
