MONTREAL – A 15-year-old boy has died and a 17-year-old driver has been arrested after a vehicle went off road near a highway exit in Quebec’s Chaudière-Appalaches region early this morning.

Police say they received a call around 2:45 a.m. about the incident in Frampton, Que., about 50 kilometres southeast of Quebec City

Quebec provincial police spokesperson Sgt. Béatrice Dorsainville says four teenagers were in the vehicle that may have tried to avoid another vehicle on the road.

The 15-year-old boy who was in a rear passenger seat was ejected from the vehicle and declared dead at the scene.

Dorsainville says the teenage driver is currently in hospital with minor injuries and may be facing charges of dangerous driving causing death.

The other teenage passengers also suffered minor injuries and police say the investigation is ongoing but they have ruled out driving under the influence.
