Missing senior found

Russell RCMP say a missing senior has been found.

The missing 86-year-old woman was last seen around 11:30 a.m. Friday in Russell.

RCMP announced late Saturday afternoon she had been safely located.

 

 

RCMP locate man suffering from frostbite

A Sandy Bay First Nation man who was apprehended Thursday by Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP has been found.

Officers charged Blake Beaulieu, 33, with theft, flight from peace officer, and possession of a firearm after a short pursuit in Ebb and Flow First Nation.

He was taken to hospital in serious condition after due to extreme frostbite. Beaulieu had left the hospital, with the help of an unknown person, and RCMP were trying to locate him.

RCMP say he was located in Sandy Bay First Nation and has returned to the hospital.

Man, 28, facing weapons charges

A 28-year-old Winnipeg man is facing weapons charges after police noticed a boarded-up apartment complex suite had been breached Friday night.

Winnipeg police went to investigate the suit on the 400 block of Edmonton Street and found a man and woman inside.

A backpack police say belonged to the man contained an air pistol, a zip-gun in two pieces and 0.22 calibre rounds.

The man was detained.

The 29-year-old woman was charged with unlawfully in a dwelling house and was released on an appearance notice.

Man arrested after assault

A 46-year-old Winnipeg man is facing charges after allegedly randomly assaulting a woman Friday morning and damaging a vehicle.

Winnipeg police say the 34-year-old victim was walking on the 100 block of Rupert Avenue when she was knocked to the ground by a man. The assault continued until bystanders intervened.

The suspect then walked to the intersection of Logan Avenue and Princess Street where police say he kicked the driver side door of a 2025 Porsche Macan, causing around $1,000 in damage.

The man allegedly attempted to assault other pedestrians before bystanders intervened and apprehended him near Princess Street and Rupert Avenue. Police arrested the man shortly after 12 p.m.

The man is charged with assault, mischief under $5,000/obstruct in enjoyment, and fail to comply with probation order. He was detained.

 

Three facing charges after homicide: Berens River RCMP

Three men are facing charges after 45-year-old man was pronounced dead at the Berens River nursing station Thursday, local RCMP said.

In a release Saturday, Berens River RCMP say it’s believed the man was assaulted by three people who had left the community driving a black Dodge Ram pickup truck on route to Bloodvein First Nation.

The male suspects, aged 22, 31 and 43 were arrested. They remain in custody.

RCMP searching for Sandy Bay First Nation man

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP are searching for a 33-year-old man from Sandy Bay First Nation who may be suffering from life-threatening injuries after a lengthy pursuit Thursday.

In a release Friday, RCMP say they responded to a report of an impaired driver in Ebb and Flow First Nation around 11:15 a.m. Thursday.

RCMP say they conducted a traffic stop, but the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers learned the vehicle had been reported stolen, and found a sawed-off shotgun inside of it.

The suspect was later located in the bush in deep snow by officers on a snowmobile. When trying to arrest the man, he escaped and fled the scene on the officers’ snowmobile.

The snowmobile later became stuck and the suspect began walking towards the road, where RCMP arrested him. At that time, RCMP say he was not wearing shoes and was suffering from extreme frostbite.

He was taken to hospital but RCMP say they were notified he left with the assistance of an unknown person early Friday.

Blake Beaulieu is facing various charges including theft of a motor vehicle, flight from peace officer and possession of a firearm.
