SAINT JOHN, N.B. – Police in Saint John, N.B., say one man has been arrested following a shooting Tuesday in the commercial, uptown area of the city.

Police said they responded to a report of shots fired at 10:28 a.m. and found a 20-year-old man dead in a vehicle. They did not release details about the victim.

Three male suspects were seen leaving the area on foot, they said, describing the shooting as an isolated incident.

An Alert Ready notification described the suspects as a white man with brown hair and wearing a dark jacket; a white man with dark clothing, and a Black man wearing a light blue hoody with dark pants.

Police did not say which of the three had been arrested.

“It’s still an ongoing investigation and police are trying to identify and locate the other two suspects,” Staff Sgt. Shawna Fowler, from Saint John Police Force, said in a statement.

It was not immediately clear whether all three were armed.

The shooting led police to lock down schools in the area around King’s Square and issue an order for residents to remain indoors.
