Winnipeg’s mayor received attention on a long-standing, popular game show this week.

On Tuesday, Jeopardy! host Ken Jennings raised an “answer” that noted Mayor Scott Gillingham by name.

“In Canada, his or her worship is for people with this government job, like Scott Gillingham of Winnipeg and Surrey, B.C.’s Brenda Locke,” the answer stated.

A recent Jeopardy! episode name-dropped Winnipeg Mayor Scott Gillingham.

While the show’s contestants did not give the correct “what is a mayor?” question in response, Gillingham noted the exchange on social media.

“Fun surprise to be featured in a clue on @Jeopardy today,” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, on July 8.

On Thursday, the mayor added another post on X that notes a former Winnipegger works on the game show. He said Jeopardy! has also referred to the Royal Winnipeg Ballet and Lake Winnipeg in the past.
