BRAMPTON – Peel police say one person is dead and another is injured following a shooting Tuesday night in Brampton, Ont.

Police responded to reports of gunshots at around 8:40 p.m. on Bayhampton Drive and found two male victims with gunshot wounds.

One victim was pronounced dead on the scene while the other person was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Const. Michelle Stafford told The Canadian Press Wednesday that the incident occurred inside a residence and suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

Peel police said the homicide unit is investigating and canvassing the area for information on possible suspects.

Stafford said it’s believed to be a targeted and isolated incident, and there is no threat to public safety at this time.
